Project Description
Concrete Canvas is a flexible, concrete impregnated fabric that hardens when hydrated to form a thin, durable, waterproof and fire resistant concrete layer. It is the original concrete on a roll.
Concrete Canvas allows concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment. Simply unroll and position Concrete Canvas, and then just add water (any type of water, including sea water). Concrete Canvas has no impact on the pH of runoff water. Concrete Canvas is widely used as a cheaper alternative to non-structural shotcrete.

Applications
Concrete Canvas is available in 3 thicknesses: CC5, CC8 and CC13, which are 5, 8 and 13mm thick respectively. Concrete Canvas Hydro, which includes a PVC backing membrane, is also available for hydrocarbon applications.
Concrete Canvas is used in a variety of mining applications, such as ditch lining, slope protection and capping secondary containment bunds.
Concrete Canvas is being used extensively on large-scale mining projects around the world.
Ditch Lining
Concrete Canvas is rapidly becoming the ditch lining material of choice for engineers and contractors around the world. Concrete Canvas is typically 10 times faster to install than conventional concrete solutions, with installation speeds of up to 200 m2/hr possible with only a three man crew for a longitudinal layup.
Slope Protection
Concrete Canvas is increasingly being used as an alternative to non-structural shotcrete to protect slopes from surface erosion caused by weathering, surface run-off and environmental degradation.
In certain applications Concrete Canvas can be used as structural slope stabilisation by combining it with steel mesh and soils nails (see the Concrete Canvas User guide for more details).
Bund Lining
Concrete Canvas can be used for hard armour capping of earth bunds around petrochemical tank farms, munitions depots and flood defences. Typically installation speeds for bund lining are approximately 800 m2/day with a 6-man crew. Concrete Canvas Hydro may also be used in this application.
Advantages
Compared to traditional concrete solutions, Concrete Canvas is faster, easier and more cost effective to install and has the additional benefit of reducing the environmental impact of concreting works by up to 95%. It is available in bulk and smaller batch rolls.
Easy to Use
Concrete Canvas is available in man portable rolls eliminating the need for plant on site and allowing concrete installation in areas with limited access. Prior to hydration, Concrete Canvas layers can be cut to length using basic hand tools eliminating the hazards associated with using power tools in high risk environments. The concrete is pre-mixed so there is no need for mixing, measuring or compacting. Just add water.
Low Project Cost
The speed and ease of installation mean Concrete Canvas is more cost-effective than conventional concrete, with less logistical burden. Up to 200 m2 of Concrete Canvas can be supplied on a single pallet, greatly reducing transportation logistics and on site storage.
Eco Friendly
Concrete Canvas is a low mass, low carbon technology which uses up to 95% less material than conventional concrete for many applications.
Installation
Installation of Concrete Canvas is easy, as it allows concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment. It is uniquely suited for installations in remote mine sites where logistical efficiency is key, and is well suited to use in extreme environments. Simply position the Concrete Canvas and just add water. For more detailed installation instruction refer to the detailed installation guides.
